Weekend Time!

I will be spending most of my time on Drake Men this weekend! Advertising, marketing, and social media is where I live these days. I will be mixing in some reorganziation of my closet and having a dinner date with my cousin. It will be a hot, hot, hot weekend so maybe I will have to visit the pool too!

Have a fabulous weekend and if you lovely readers wouldn't mind, please, hope on over to Drake Men's Facebook page and LIKE us!

Summer Whites...

I have expressed in the last week about how unbelievably hot it is in Houston. Yesterday it reached 102 with 50% humidity! The moment you step outside you almost immediately begin to sweat. Yesterday I had a lovely lunch with my best friend’s mom. We always try new things when we are together and this time it was Blu in the Town Center district of Sugar Land. Their Euro-Asian lunch menu, which is only $12, serves you three courses! Everything that we had was so, so good. I am planning on taking the hubs there sometime!

Before I had even stepped a foot out the door I spent about 30 minutes going through various outfit choices. With this weather you can't wear anything too tight or fitting. Shorts, jeans, and form fitting dresses and tanks were out of the question. I went straight to the back where my dresses hang. Most of them have black in them, along with most of my wardrobe, so those were immediately out. I tried on about four other dresses and ended up with a feminine, candy apple red, ruffled dress that once I put it on I couldn't resist it. The dress is made of chiffon which is light and airy which will keep me nice and cool. It was a hit!

On the way to the restaurant I couldn't help think about all of the dresses that I need to add to my wardrobe. Many of my dresses are from my...college/club years. I could definitely add some more feminine dresses to my closet. I love all white outfits at the moment…they are chic, casual, and keep you cool. I have searched around and here are some of my favs!

Wishing Thursday...

Another day here, spending it all on Drake Men! I have been getting emails through the week about bloggers wanting to do some giveaways which is very exciting and one person imparticular loves our products so much that on his Tumblr page he will be posting a few photos and our link. It made me so happy because he genuinely loves our products!

While I am working on searching for other ways to advertise Drake Men I couldn't help having my mind wonder as I was looking through some of my favorite Tumblr pages and Pinterest.

Wishing I could...

Be working from here

Be wearing this. Although I don't think the 105 degrees will let me!

Having breakfast here...the menu looks so interesting.

Have an entry way that looks like this

End the day with a glass of wine sitting here

Some Wise Words...

For this Wednesday morning I will grace you with some inspirational words from our very missed Steve Jobs. Since I went over 'to the dark side' and purchased a Mac Air I have been thinking about how brilliant he was. I have never had a computer like it. It is so clean, sophisticated, stream lined, great resolution, and incredibly fast.

My beautiful 3 month old niece is giving me the pleasure of babysitting her all day! She is adorable and so fun to interact with but of course Drake Men will not be forgotten. During her nap times will be my email, computer, advertising, working time!

Coffee Break...

It is the time of day where I find a 'lull' in my desire to work. Of course, I am lucky that I stock up on Starbucks Iced Coffee Via packs! Usually when I make my creamy, ice cold drink I like to snack on a few almonds and dried cranberries. That's right it is going to be amazing. I need to get some strength so I can make my chicken tortilla soup from scratch that is incredible. Then it’s back to work for a late night working on Drake Men with the hubs.

Until then I am dreaming about purchasing these summer chic finds from Lulu's...

Great Photos...

Every once in a while I just go on over to Haute Faves Deux and browse her photos. The photos I think are gorgeous whether its of a scenery, fashion, or of coffee. Here are some that have caught my eye...

Drake Men Tie Bars!

Drake Men is launched and looking good! We have had wonderful response from you guys, people on Pinterest, Facebook, and family & friends. This is all happening so fast and is very exciting. Today I wanted to shine a light on our tie bars.

These are one of my favorite designs that I came up with. I wanted to have something men could wear that would give texture to there outfit. A tie bar is something I always notice on a guy. It is generally right at my eye level and with that I wanted pieces that would get a reaction out of people. Not only will the Wood Grain and Brushed give your outfit dimension but it will add a vintage look. I think adding a vintage inspired piece to any outfit brings a timeless feel.

All three are made from sterling silver and are hand-made. Having each of them be hand-made means that each one is a little different from the next giving it a unique feel. Pairing one of these with any of our ties will give you a sophisticated, stylish, and timeless look for any occasion!

We have extended the grand opening of Drake Men through this week which means free shipping!

Work Space...

Hello lovies! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend...I sure did! It was very relaxing, and a lot of time spent together. We did some errands, lay out on our balcony with good books, had a date night on Saturday and then a Redbox night last night, and then finished it up with some mild work.

Saturday was an interesting day for many reasons. One, I have gone over to the dark side...I bought a Mac Air! It is beautiful, tiny, and so much better than my HP(that I am currently using right now.lol). In between running errands it click in our heads that their needs to be some serious furniture moving in order to put all of our Drake Men boxes, laptops, printers, and a desk. The only solution we really have is to sell our huge couch and chair and purchase a new, much smaller, sleeker couch. In the middle of last week I came across a photo from Rue that I thought would work for our living/work space.

This is Jess's apartment and this is our inspiration. Our living room is a few feet bigger than this floor plan. I am stuck on actually purchasing a sectional or getting a smaller couch and keep our two vintage inspired leather accent chairs. The hubs and I love to lounge all over our couch so a sectional seems like the way to go but we also just as equally love our two chairs. Dilemma, dilemma, dilemma!

Once the hubs and I agreed that this is a necessary transition since we won't be moving until early next year we stopped by a few stores to get some ideas. That's all I needed to motivate me to research how to have a living space be half a work space. I still want it to look like a home, feel comfortable, but also have our own space for Drake Men things. Here are some of my inspiration photos for this exciting new time!

White will keep everything sophisticated and clean looking.

Desk pushed up against the back of the couch seems like the way to go!

Cute trunks for storage.

Love the huge lamp and blue rug.

Absolutley LOVE the chairs!

Love the hutch on the desk.

Can't get enough of the chair! I contemplate on getting on which style
of chair I should have...

Fun Friday...

Now that Drake Men is up I have been busy with orders, advertising, PR, and learning how to run a business. The last two days have been hectic, crazy, unexpected events and great at the same time. I have talked about before that for so long I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. Who I was going to be or what career I would have. Looking back on those times it seems silly of me how much I stressed myself out trying to find an answer. Friends and family would always ask "what are you doing to do when you grow up?" I mean we all get asked that question and more often than not I would come up with a satisfying answer on the spot. It may have sounded good but I still didn't really know the answer to that question.

In no way am I saying that I know the right answer because I do believe that the correct response to that isn't always an answer that includes a career/job. When Drake Men launched yesterday it was a crazy day. I had started my part-time job of watching my niece while her mom (a nurse) works her 12 hour shift and dad (Fireman) working his 24 hour shift. Trying to get on a schedule where I worked when she slept was a little tricky for the simple fact that not every time she sleeps I can get a full hour in; sometimes it was 20-30 min. I made it work and everything that needed to get done did.

When it was play time I would think in the back of my head how much I enjoyed being with her. The question, that family always asks, was popping up in the back of my mind. At one point near the end of the day I finally came up with a great answer that covers all areas of life. What I want to do when I 'grow up' is to be a business owner who can still be a wife and mother. Be able to have a successful career and still juggle daily life with family and friends. A person that is successful in every aspect of life. That is what I want to be when I grow up. I think that's a pretty good answer!

On a little lighter note it also got me thinking about houses...as usual! I can't stop thinking about going back home to Sugar Land, TX. I LOVE living in the heart of Houston but with that comes high property taxes and even higher home prices. Thinking about moving back to Sugar Land used to bother me because I enjoy the 'hustle and bustle' of the area I live in. It reminds me of NYC a little. Everyone has places to go, people to see, and money to make. Whereas Sugar Land has become a little bit more metropolitan and not so much suburbia. Last week I was in the area of Sugar Land called Lake Pointe. It has really developed over the last year with urban three-story town homes, businesses, shops, and restaurants. There is one area with these gorgeous little (25 homes maybe) pockets of three-story town homes. Each one has a different look...there is an area with brownstone features, another with the modern look, and then there are the free standing Villa's.

A look at how they are making these town homes more family friendly...so much larger than the ones near us!

DRAKE MEN!

Well...we are finally up and running! It is very exciting and I cannot tell you how happy I am about this day being here. We have already had our first order placed which made me scream with joy! Having it launch today has been quite an adventure. Today is the start of watching my niece twice a week while her mommy and daddy are working. So between bottle feedings, play times, and watching her laugh and then her getting scared of the noises she made I fit in Drake Men. I didn't know how I was going to handle it but I tell you I am a person that likes routine so it has been great!

So I am here to share with you some advertisement on Drake Men. I am ecstatic about us launching I just can't really contain myself-I will try! We have great products that are all hand-made in the USA. Come on over and stop by and shop for some great summer pieces to add to your guys wardrobe!

Grand Opening = Free Shipping for a week!

Teeny Tiny Studio...

I found this very well decorated studio over at Apartment 34. The decor first caught my attention but once I looked at the home tour I couldn't help but think they used every inch so wisely. Having a blank canvas that only stretches out to 600 sq. ft. would be a challenge for any one. These girls did an amazing job mixing in hard with soft pieces.

My very first apartment was just at 630 sq. ft. and I even had hard time finding furniture that wasn't overly fluffy but that also could seat more than two people. The furniture that they picked out goes so well with the studio. Everything is clean lined, soft, and modern. I really enjoyed looking at these photos and thinking I could definitely live there! Well, I may have to see how big the closet is but I could make do. Ha!

Bits From My Weekend...

A New Week!

Hello and welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful weekend because I sure did. I got to spend time in the gym, with my husband, and some more time with my favorite guy (the hubs). Between both of our work schedules, family, and friends we hardly have a weekend that's just the two of us. We spent most of Saturday lounging around the house and then we went on a fabulous date. We ate at one of our favorite Mexican food restaurants, Cyclone Anaya's, then walked around City Center listening to the live band that was playing in the court yard. After we walked off our food we decided to go to one of my favorite spots, Flora Muse, for some coffee and chocolate scones!

Our weekend was completed with some family time yesterday, fun in the sun while reading a good book and some iced coffee all from our balcony. It was a great weekend but it is time to get back to work! It is Monday and I used to start off with some wise words, a funny joke, or an inspiring quote. I haven't posted one in quite some time. I came across Erin from Apartment 34 Pinterest account and fell in love with one of her posts. Once I read it, it spoke to me because this is exactly how I am feeling about my life right now.

On that note I hope everyone has a great Monday...it is back to work for me. Drake Men will be up and running this week! Finally!
